You will control the missile command, which means that you are the one in charge of the three cannons on the bottom of the screen, which you need to use the protect all of the houses there, as there will be rockets raining down upon them from alien spaceships, and you have to intercept them.
That is why you use the mouse to shoot the missiles from your cannons, having to take down their rockets before they reach the ground and destroy your base, or you lose the game. For each wave, you will face you have a limited number of missiles, so try not to click randomly too much, or you will end up out of ammo to use.
