In either the story mode or free play mode, winning is achieved in the same way, by reaching the end of the songs, and to do that you need to hit your notes until the conclusions and the progress bars turn towards you.

To hit the notes, watch when arrow symbols match above BF, and at the exact same time press the identical arrow keys. Be careful not to miss hitting the notes multiple times in a row, or you need to start again from scratch!
