The cards at the bottom of the screen on your side represent the units you can send out in battle, and once you send one, you need more money for another one, so wait until they are available to place forth more soldiers.

As you defeat the waves that are coming towards you in attack, use the money for more soldiers, and do upgrades to them, as well as to towers and other defensive systems you can use.

If the enemy overtakes you with their forces, you lose and have to restart, so make sure that you are always putting forth more troops and take over them instead, no matter how hard the battles are going to become!
