If they pop, the farmer will lose all his crops, and the autumm festival will be ruined. Now, how will you help Marshall? Well, he will have a pump on his back. You will have to click on it to fill it with water. If the corn pile with 1 is highlited, then you have to pump once, and then click on Marshall to shoot the water. Pump as many times as the number of the corn pile required to cool off at that time, and then just click on Marshall.
