The first incarnation of the show first aired in 1969, having been called Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, and, since then, there have been countless spin-off shows, remakes, and we even had live-action movies as well as a new and popular animated movie called Scoob, which appeared in 2020, so we can definitely say that the franchise is as strong as it ever was. These morning cartoons made a name for themselves with the lovable characters, fun adventures, and mysteries, as well as its gags.
 

Through the years...

When it comes to the main story, as well as characters, things have not really changed since the first show in 69’, and we’re not at all surprised, because if something works, you don’t fix it. Still, the animation improved with time, and the same can probably be said for the kind of stories the shows aired.

The shows follow the same five main characters, meaning Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Shaggy Rogers, with their pet, the Great Dane called Scooby-Doo, who is probably the most important character, since he is in the title, and the dog is what we believe links together all these different personalities.

The five are known as the Mystery Incorporated, and they travel to America, but in some shows, they also traveled the world, and they do it with their Mystery Machine. It is a van in blue and green that has orange flowers on it, and it is their home as they roam the land, in the search of adventures and mysteries.

In each place that they visit, they did so because they heard of a certain urban legend or local mystery. It can be zombies, ghosts, mummies, vampires, and others, so they work very hard to catch the creatures. Every time it is actually revealed that the monster was a human in disguise, who had a certain bad plan for the location, and wanted to do something bad.

The villains are always caught, grabbed by the police, and the episodes usually end with them saying the iconic phrase ’if it weren't for those pesky kids’. Still, despite the fact that the monsters are always human, the main duo in the gang, Shaggy and Scooby, are always scared, as they investigate separately, most of the time, and they can’t handle scares, that’s for sure.
