Some of the platforms are going to be static and stand still, but some of them are moving, and they do so to the left and right randomly, so try to time your jump as well as possible so that you don't do a mistake and fall completely, because that means losing and having to start from scratch. At random places there will also be cannons on either side, shooting at you, so make sure to avoid their shots so you don't lose.
